Mummy cartonage of SHEPEN-KHONSU

Mummy Cartonnage of the mistress of the house Shepen-Khonsu was found in the tomb of kheru-ef in Qurna.

It was made in layers of linen and gesso modelled in human form and is decorated with religious scenes and texts.  It would have been put into a wooden coffin for burial.

The Cartonnage  is decorated with a finely painted face.  Atum, the ram-headed god,  is spreading it's wings over the chest.  On its sides are depicted the mumiform of Osiris and the 4 sons of horus.  Lower are the emblems of Abydos - a falcon with outstretched wings flanked by Isis and Nephthys.
