Fragment of limestone Ostracon with a comical image, dating to the New Kingdom. The image has been painted in red and black ink and is two animals. The jackal, fox or dog is wearing a full robe such as that worn by a Nobel and is carrying a staff-of-office. The robe is draw in red and the animal is painted in black. At the Jackal's feet (which could be a separate sketch) is a calf, antelope or goat drawn in red and black lines.

The ears of the Jackal are painted into a broken part of the limestone. This demonstrates that use that even small and imperfect limestone was out to. These sketches were a 'doodle' and not intended for anything other than passing and casual use.
