WILLIAM RAYMOND FITZGERALD (1890-1964)
William Raymond FitzGerald was the son of George Francis FitzGerald and Harriette Mary Jellett.
William, known as Raymond, was born on 16th January 1890 and christened on 26th February 1890.
Raymond studied at Trinity College Dublin. He severed with The Royal Engineers in WW1. He then joined Egyptian Railways. Raymond then moved to Calcutta, where he was General Manager of the Bengal Nagpur Railway.
He was honoured with a knighthood on his Majesty King George VI's birthday in 1946. The London Gazette states in the honours list: William Raymond FITZGERALD, Esq., lately General Manager, Bengal Nagpur Railway, Calcutta.
William Raymond FitzGerald was knighted in 25th July 1946.
Sir Raymond apparently had a great sense of humour, possibly akin to his father's legendary sense of humour.
Sir William Raymond FitzGerald knight of Rathmichael Lodge, Shankill, County Dublin died as a result of an accident, on 21st June 1964.
