Limestone stela of Khentyemsemyt dating to the 12th Dynasty (c.1900 BC) probably form Abydos (EA 574). Khentyemsemyt lived during the reign of Amenemhat II and the text describes his trip up (southward) the Nile to Elephantine (modern Aswan) to inspect statues in the temples of the gods. On the return journey he paused at Abydos to setup this memorial for himself close to the cult centre of Osiris.
